The blog post describes one bride's experience of wedding dress shopping and planning. She had a vision of a form-fitting lace gown for her winter wedding and found the dress she was interested in on Dearly's lookbook. On the day of the appointment, she tried on a lot of lacy dresses but none gave her the "this is it" feeling until she picked a gown that was not the style she had in mind. It had no lace and a high neckline, but it quickly became her favorite. Her advice to future brides is to have an idea of what you want but be open to trying on different styles.

Kylee looked absolutely beautiful in our Morgan gown from our Honest in Ivory Private Collection. This clean and simple gown is made of crepe material which is sleek but so comfortable. The gown features a high-halter neck and a stunning open back. Buttons all the way down the train are the cherry on top of this gown.

By our real bride, Kylee:

How was wedding dress shopping and wedding planning for you? What was your vision?

I had looked at Dearly's lookbook right after they opened and I had seen a dress that I was extremely interested in. It was form-fitting, which is what I had envisioned for myself and it had lots of lace, which I also had envisioned for myself.

How did it go the day-of?

It was relaxed, which is always my vibe. I went with my man of honor, Tyler, and my mother. It was kind of during a COVID dip but we still had to wear masks, but I was able to take mine off for a few seconds with each dress so I could get a real feel of what I would look like. I was in Dearly's old space right by No-Li Brewhouse. I tried on a lot of lacy dresses, including the one that had originally caught my eye in the lookbook. They, of course, were beautiful, but none of them gave me a "this is it" feeling. Tyler and I went to go look through some of the other dresses, and I picked one that was not the style I had in mind for myself. It had no lace on it and a high neckline, but I thought why not! Tyler did not think he was going to like it at all (lol), and then I put it on and everyone was surprised because it quickly became the favorite. I narrowed it down to the gown I ended up picking and a lace gown. My mother really wanted the lace but it didn't give me that butterfly feeling. Tyler and I both favored the sleek Morgan gown. It fit in with the vibe of my winter wedding that I had pictured for myself!

What would be your advice to future brides?

My advice would be to definitely have an idea of what you want but don't feel "married" to it. Be open to trying on different styles that you didn't think you would like because that could lead you right to the one!
